Our induction and probationary period

The induction process for new staff at Greenleaf House is comprehensive and supportive. It includes:
Initial Induction: This is a 5-day program at the head office where new staff receive mandatory training before meeting the young people. The induction covers various topics such as safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, fire safety, food safety, professional boundaries, children's rights, and therapeutic parenting, medication training and an introduction to our systems and processes.

Shadow Shifts: After the initial induction, new staff have shadow shifts to get to know their home, the young people, and the processes and procedures. This helps ensure they have all the tools required for their first shift.

Learning Management System (LMS): New staff are required to complete several courses delivered through the LMS, which need to be completed before the end of the probation period.
During the probationary period, new staff meet regularly with their supervisor or manager. These meetings are documented in the induction booklet. The people advisor also conducts regular checks to ensure new staff are happy and thriving in their role.

Mentorship Program: Peer mentors' welcome new practitioners, guide them through company processes, help them get to know colleagues and service users, and support their personal development.

Career Development: Greenleaf offers several career development opportunities, including completing qualifications, learning new skills, or training in other departments. The organisation prefers to recruit its own talent whenever possible.
